The Network Journal talked with expert brand builders to get our best insight on the qualities and characteristics required to successfully build a brand. It’s largely about credibility in my experience. Particularly with writers, if you know that other writers respect them, that will trickle down to your website. Having credible, quality contractors and team members is critical when building an online brand.

Others suggest seeking out people without a sales background. If a writer has been in sales, that’s a tough skill set to ditch. They’re more likely to have “timeless” writing skills coming from a sales-free world, too. You need someone with “heart and soul” as well as passion. If the writer doesn’t believe in what you’re doing and your company, that will show through.

Ideally, find someone with complementary experience. That means less training, less of a learning curve, and they probably genuinely enjoy your industry, too! Hiring right is paramount for employees, contractors and especially writers. How you hire will help or hurt your brand.
